The Los Angeles Lakers are set to face the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET.

Lakers star Luka Doncic will be facing his former team for the first time after being acquired by Los Angeles in arguably the wildest NBA trade deadline move in league history.

Before Doncic faces the Mavericks, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal spoke on the matchup during an episode of “The Big Podcast.”

While O’Neal was discussing the game, he mentioned that he doesn’t believe Doncic would have survived in his playing era given the physicality and was quick to dismiss the idea that he could thrive in the era the Hall of Famer once dominated.

“No he couldn’t [have played during our time],” O’Neal answered. “We would have torn his little [expletive] up.

“He would have gotten an elbow,” the four-time champion added.

O’Neal played in the NBA from 1992 to 2011. During his 19-year NBA career, O’Neal was named a 14-time All-NBA member, 15-time All-Star and three-time Finals MVP.

So far this season, Doncic has averaged 26.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game.

At just 25 years old, Doncic has cemented himself as one of the best players in the NBA. During his seven-year career, he was named a five-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA member.
