Snoop Dogg Defends Martha Stewart Amid Comments on Her Falling Out with Ina Garten

In a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, Snoop Dogg stepped in to defend his longtime friend, Martha Stewart, after Ina Garten’s memoir rekindled discussions about their past falling out.
During the October 20 episode of the show, Andy Cohen asked Stewart, 83, if she had read Garten’s memoir Be Ready When the Luck Happens, which was released earlier in the month. Stewart confirmed that she had read “parts” of the book, prompting Cohen to ask if those parts included Garten’s comments about their relationship.
Stewart’s response was straightforward: “She can write whatever she wants.”
But Snoop Dogg, who was also on the show to celebrate his 53rd birthday, wasn’t having it. He quickly spoke up, defending Stewart. “I didn’t read the book, what does it say?” he asked, before Cohen revealed that Garten claimed their fallout was due to Stewart’s move to Connecticut.

Stewart chimed in, clarifying that Garten’s version of events was “not true,” and Snoop added, “Martha doesn’t fall out with people.”
The backstory behind their complicated relationship dates back to when Stewart went to jail in 2004. Stewart herself had previously opened up about how their friendship seemed to deteriorate after she was convicted of charges related to conspiracy and making false statements to federal investigators. She expressed that it was especially hurtful when Garten stopped communicating with her during her incarceration.

Snoop jokingly remarked, “That’s when I stepped in,” referencing how he had become one of Stewart’s closest friends following her prison sentence. Cohen humorously added, “When one friend goes out the door, another friend comes in the door.”
In a New Yorker interview last month, Stewart also shared her thoughts about Garten’s comments, saying, “When I was sent off to Alderson Prison, she stopped talking to me. I found that extremely distressing and extremely unfriendly.” Garten, however, denied the claims, and Stewart’s publicist, Susan Magrino, emphasized that there was “no feud” between the two, with Stewart not harboring bitterness about the situation.
Garten, who played a pivotal role in Stewart’s early career, recently acknowledged Stewart’s contributions to the culinary world in a 2017 interview, crediting her for elevating home arts into a respected field. Garten explained, “She did something really important, which is that she took something that wasn’t valued, which is home arts, and raised it to a level that people were proud to do.”
Through their long-lasting friendship, Stewart and Garten have certainly influenced each other professionally, despite the bumps along the way. And with Snoop Dogg’s strong defense, it’s clear that the bond between Stewart and her friends remains unshaken by the past.
