The 11,500-capacity stadium is the first in the world to have been built exclusively for a professional women’s team.
The Current kicked off their tenure at the eye-catching new stadium, as well as the 2024 season, in style.
Three goals between the 22nd and 34th minutes gave the Current a huge lead over the Portland Thorns, prompting wild celebrations in the stands from Patrick and Brittany.
Patrick was spotted by ESPN cameras lifting Brittany in the air as she pumped her fist in joy.

Portland clawed one back just before the break, however, this wasn’t enough to knock the Current off their rhythm.
The Mahomes’ team ultimately wound up winning 5-4 in front of a sold-out crowd.
“I am happy for the three points but I’m so much more excited for the stadium, the atmosphere, and the moment,” Current head coach Vlatko Andonovoski said, as per the team.
“This is the beginning of the change. This is going to forever change women’s soccer.”

Brittany too clearly had high expectations for the Current and their new home.
“I just want to say thank you guys for showing up today,” she told the crowd before the game.
Following the game, Brittany shared a series of snaps from their day at CPKC Stadium on Instagram.
“Today was Epic. Today was History,” she captioned the post.
“Thank you Kansas City for showing up today!! @kccurrent what a WIN.”
But not only was it a historic day for the team, and the sport, with the opening of their stadium, but also for the league as a whole.
Ellie Wheeler’s 25th-minute goal was the 400th in league history.
Later, 16-year-old Alex Pfeiffer became the NWSL’s youngest-ever regular season goal scorer.
