Michael Jordan-shaped Cheeto up for auction after Pokémon Cheeto sells for $87K

A Flamin’ Hot Cheeto shaped like the NBA legend’s iconic “Jumpman” image is being auctioned by Goldin.

Michael Jordan fans now have a chance to own a collectible they likely never saw coming.

A Flamin’ Hot Cheeto bearing an uncanny resemblance to the famous “Jumpman” image of Jordan that Nike has used as a logo for its Air Jordan athletic wear was listed for sale this week by Goldin Auctions.

The logo, based on a photo from the 1980s, shows Jordan, who played in the NBA between 1984 and 2003 and helped the Chicago Bulls win six championships, leaping in the air with his legs spread apart as he prepares to dunk a basketball into a hoop.

The Jordan Cheeto looks as though it’s making its own shot with its crunchy orange “legs” in a similar position. Its current bid is $525.

The Cheeto’s sale comes less than two weeks after the same New Jersey-based auction house sold a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto shaped like the Pokémon character Charizard for a cool $87,840 after it went viral online.

Like the Charizard Cheeto, the Jordan Cheeto comes in a clear three-inch case. It’s “positioned against a backdrop of the iconic photograph that inspired the world-renowned logo,” Goldin Auctions explains in its description.

The reverse of the case is “designed like a collectible card, highlighting Jordan’s accomplishments from his illustrious career,” writes the auction house, which is featured in the Netflix docuseries “King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch.”
