Netflix has announced that director Justin Lin, who directed the Fast & Furious series and Star Trek Beyond, will take on the directorial role for the film adaptation of the comic book “BRZRKR” created by Keanu Reeves.

BRZRKR is a 12-issue comic book series, released in 2021, based on an idea that Keanu Reeves has been nurturing for many years. The story revolves around a demigod – half-human warrior who has been cursed to fight for 80,000 years, constantly drifting through historical periods with bloody battles.

In the present day, he finds his place working for the US government, taking on missions too dangerous and violent for anyone else to take on. In return, he wishes to find out the truth about his immortality and how to end it.

Since its release, BRZRK has been a bestseller for the past 10 years, with the first 600,000 copies sold. To date, the number of copies sold has exceeded 3.5 million.

In addition to the live-action film, an anime series based on BRZRK is also in development with scripts by Mattson Tomlin.

Justin Lin’s Latest Project

Before agreeing to direct “BRZRKR”, Justin Lin made the film “Last Days”, which tells the true story of John Allen Chau – an American missionary who defied the law to set foot on North Sentinel Island, home to the isolated and hostile Sentinelese tribe. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received much attention. Notably, Keanu Reeves also played an important role in helping this film come to fruition.
