PART 2:
“What did he say?” Ethan asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Naomi’s face turned pale as she pulled the boy closer. “Daniel, no,” she said, but it was too late. The whole mansion heard him call Ethan Daddy.
Vanessa quickly stepped forward, trying to take control of the room. She said that the child was confused, and the child was scared and said strangely. But Ethan doesn’t listen to her anymore. He stared at Daniel’s face, witnessing his own eyes looking back at him.
Ethan bowed his head in front of the boy and asked for the boy’s name. Daniel hid behind Naomi’s wet coat, trembling and crying. Vanessa insisted that this was just a desperate hoax. Ethan then stands up and asks Naomi the question everyone has been waiting for: “Is he mine?”
Naomi could barely speak at first. The silence made Vanessa look almost relieved. But then Naomi finally says that she tried to tell Ethan 5 years ago. She wrote letters, called his office, contacted the hospital, and begged someone to let her contact him.
Ethan looked stunned and said that he had never received anything. Naomi turned to Vanessa and said she knew it all. Vanessa’s expression changed in a second, just long enough for Ethan to notice. The room was completely silent again.
Naomi reveals that all the letters have been blocked. Every hospital call is blocked. When she arrives at Ethan’s office, the security guard says her name is restricted. Ethan says that he never puts her on any list.
Vanessa tries to call Naomi unstable and accuses her of making things up. But Naomi says that she almost died giving birth to Ethan’s son. She later revealed the boy’s full name: Daniel Isaac Carlisle. She gave him Ethan’s last name because she had once believed that Ethan would want him.
Ethan asked for the envelope. Vanessa immediately tried to stop him. But Ethan looks at her and coldly tells her to move. For the first time that night, Vanessa obeyed.
Ethan began to open the damp envelope. Inside were Daniel’s birth certificate, old ultrasound photos, hospital records, copied letters, and DNA reports. Then Ethan saw the results. The probability of maternity is 99.9998%.
Ethan whispered Daniel’s name as if it was heartbreaking to say it. Naomi tells him that he doesn’t understand what Daniel has been through. The boy has a fever without a father, asks why the other children have fathers, and makes a birthday card for a man who never comes. Naomi says that Daniel waited by the window because she told him that his father was busy, not cruel.
Ethan tried to explain that he didn’t know. But Naomi says that doesn’t make it any better. Daniel later reveals that he found the envelope himself and recognized Ethan’s name from a photo of Naomi hidden in a book. The child asked his mother to bring it, hoping Ethan finally knew where they had lived.
Ethan looked broken. He wanted to say, apologize, or reach out to the boy. But Naomi holds Daniel’s hand before he can. She then gave the words that ruined him: “You can’t be his father just because your wedding was interrupted.
