he New York Yankees’ best hitter, Aaron Judge, has just slammed another home run out of the park by partnering with Ralph Lauren for their Design Your Dreams campaign as he is the face of a $108 fragrance.
Judge, who will earn $360m across nine years with the Bronx-based franchise in the MLB, continues to grow his marketing power and reputation with the latest business venture, which he described as a “dream”.
Shohei Ohtani blows Los Angeles Dodgers fans away by speaking spanish
“I always dreamed of working with Ralph Lauren,” Judge said to PEOPLE. “[So] it is such an honor to be the face of the campaign because it’s all about following your dreams no matter what, which is something that I can truly relate to with my experiences in life and sports.”
Judge is an excellent face to slap on the front of your marketing campaign as he’s perhaps the biggest active name in professional baseball other than Shohei Ohtani.
In 2022, the Yankees’ fan favorite crushed 62 pitches over the fences to take the record for the most home runs within a single season, something that even legendary hitters from the 1990s-2000s couldn’t do with the aid of performance enhancing drugs.
It’s for this “excellence” that Ralph Lauren decided to hire him to advertise their latest brand.
“In both the world of sport and the world of fragrance, it’s passion that sets things apart,” Ralph Lauren, Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, said in a press release. “Aaron Judge’s genuine love for baseball embodies what I most believe in – a commitment to excellence and the art of doing what you love.”
Close to Judge’s heart
One might not expect a fragrance brand to have such a personal meaning to the 31-year-old baseball player but to him, it reminds him of his “home” in New York City (despite being from California).
He adds that the combination of the Big Apple, Ralph Lauren and New York Yankees means that two NYC legacies have come together and he describes it as a “pinch me moment”.
“I’m really proud and excited for this chapter of my life.”
