Jema Galanza Warns Creamline Cool Smashers Against Complacency as They Chase 11th PVL Title
The Creamline Cool Smashers are on the brink of another milestone in their storied Premier Volleyball League (PVL) journey as they aim to capture their 11th championship. However, team captain Jema Galanza remains steadfast in her reminder to the squad: stay focused and avoid complacency.
Guarding Against Overconfidence
In a recent interview, Galanza emphasized the importance of maintaining their hunger for victory.
“We’ve been in this position before, but each title run is different. It’s not about how many we’ve won; it’s about proving ourselves every single game,” Galanza shared.
With their wealth of experience and star-studded roster, Creamline often enters tournaments as heavy favorites. However, Galanza insists that overconfidence can be their greatest adversary.
“Complacency is dangerous. Teams are getting stronger every season, and they’re all gunning for us. We need to stay disciplined and continue working hard,” she added.
Key Players and Strategies
The Cool Smashers boast a deep lineup led by Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos, and Galanza herself, complemented by reliable middle blockers like Jeanette Panaga and Celine Domingo. Their versatility, chemistry, and strong coaching under Coach Sherwin Meneses have been pivotal to their sustained dominance.
The team is also leaning heavily on their defensive consistency, with libero Kyla Atienza ensuring solid floor coverage.
“We’ve worked a lot on our defense and transitions. Everyone is contributing, and we trust each other’s roles,” Galanza explained.
The Road Ahead
The road to their 11th title won’t be easy, as challengers like F2 Logistics, Chery Tiggo, and the ever-improving squads of Choco Mucho and PLDT are eager to dethrone the reigning queens of the PVL.
Galanza acknowledges the rising competition but views it as motivation.
“Every team is bringing their best game against us, and we welcome that challenge. It pushes us to improve even more,” she stated.
A Team Driven by Legacy
With 10 championships under their belt, the Creamline Cool Smashers have already cemented their legacy in Philippine volleyball. But for Galanza and her teammates, their mission is far from over.
“We don’t play for the titles alone. We play to inspire and to show that with hard work and teamwork, anything is possible,” she concluded.
As the PVL season heats up, all eyes will be on the Cool Smashers to see if they can once again rise to the occasion and claim their 11th crown. For now, their captain’s call for vigilance and determination will surely keep the team on track for another historic run.
