Part 2:
Evelyn didn’t shout. She doesn’t beg Grant to believe in her daughter. She simply took out her phone and turned on the security camera.
The room went silent when the video appeared on television. Vanessa’s crying stopped for a second. Her voice is calm, ruthless, and can’t be misinterpreted.
“You know, your dad just let you visit because he had to, right?” Vanessa said. Lily whispered that she just wanted to show her dad a picture. Vanessa laughed and moved closer.
Then the truth turns out to be more sinister than anyone expected. Vanessa tells Lily that important men need important people around them. She said Lily and her mother were always clinging to things that didn’t belong to them.
Lily whispered, “This is my dad’s house.” Vanessa’s face changed. Her smile became sharp.
No one warned, Vanessa grabbed Lily’s hand. She forced her to her feet. She then ordered the little girl to say that she was a burden.
Part 2 continues. Vanessa twisted the glass vase on the floor. Then she dropped the glass vase almost shattered and arranged her face into tears, waiting for Grant to come back and believe in her.
The video ends. No one moved. The only sound was the sound of an old clock chiming in the hallway.
Grant turned to Vanessa. His voice was just a whisper. “I don’t believe that’s true.”
Vanessa opened her mouth, but there was no clear justification. Finally, she said Lily provoked him. Evelyn looked at her with coldness and disgust.
Grant walked up to Lily and tried to say her name. But Lily turned her back on him. It was a single move that caused him pain.
For the first time, Grant understood what he had done. He didn’t know anything.
Vanessa tried to blame Evelyn again. She said that Evelyn had planned everything to bring her down. Evelyn calmly replied, “I’m not putting you down, Vanessa. Let me let you introduce yourself.”
Grant said he would call the police. Evelyn said he would. But first, he had to hear the part of the story that he had never tried to understand.
Because the security footage is not the final shock. That’s just the beginning. Evelyn still has a residual truth that will destroy everything Grant thinks he possesses.
