John Daly lifts the lid on playing golf with Michael Jordan as he delivers verdict on NBA legend’s swing

PGA Tour legend John Daly offered glowing praise for Michael Jordan‘s golf game – even if he did admit to beating him.
The NBA icon, 62, is, of course, renowned for his prowess on the basketball court but it appears he also possesses skills on the golf course too.
Jordan is an avid golf fan, who has previously teed it up with some of the biggest names in the game, including two-time major winner Xander Schauffele.
Now, Daly can be added to the list as the 58-year-old lifted the lid on his round with the six-time NBA champion, revealing Jordan has a ‘great swing’ and ‘hits it pretty good.’
‘I haven’t played with him at his course in 23 yet,’ Daly said on the ‘Like A Farmer Podcast,’ referring to Jordan’s golf course, The Grove XXIII, in Hobe Sound. ‘But [I] played with him at the Bob Hope Classic. It was me him, Joe Pesci, Rory Green and Charles Barkley. It was a blast.
‘We played at Tamarisk Country Club and I was lucky to shoot 63 that day and took a little bit off MJ.’
However, the Chicago Bulls legend wouldn’t make it into Daly’s dream foursome, as the two-time major winner revealed his perfect round would involve Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore and Halle Berry, before joking he’d have to include fiancée Anna Cladakis.
Jordan has previously hit the course with Ryder Cup team members Rickie Fowler and Schauffele on occasion with the latter admitting it’s ‘really hard to s**t talk him.’
‘I did my best version of it — and then he beat me,’ Schauffele said in a video shared by Golf on CBS last year.
Jordan regularly attends the Ryder cup, and was even pitched as a potential vice captain for this year’s showdown at Bethpage Black by former caddie and ESPN writer Michael Collins.
Jordan made a special appearance at Le Golf National for the 2018 edition of the biennial bust-up.
The Wednesday before the tournament in Paris he paid a visit to the away team’s locker room, pulling on his own experiences of winning on the road to fuel their campaign.
‘Michael was talking about how he would always play on the road against tough opponents or crowds that were always against him,’ Brooks Koepka said, via The New York Post. ‘It’s just funny hearing a different athlete’s point of view or the way they would go about it, and then you can kind of take what you want from there.
‘He talked about how he didn’t hear the crowd. I took it as he couldn’t wait to shut them up, and the second he would go off … the quieter they are [and] you’re kind of laughing inside [and] you’ve done what you wanted to do. I thought that was pretty cool.’
Fowler said Jordan regaled Team USA with tales ‘about some of the teams that were the toughest to play, the guys that he faced and who he thought were the toughest, not just as a team but the individuals that he faced and how he kind of went about home games versus away games.’
However, he was seemingly Europe’s secret weapon during the last tournament at Marco Simone.
European captain Luke Donald and Jordan are friends and neighbors in the same secluded area of Jupiter, Florida – there is one house between the golfer and Jordan. They’ve vacationed together. Yvette, Jordan’s wife, is friends with Diana, Donald’s other half.
And Jordan reportedly celebrated Europe’s triumph in Rome over his American countrymen last year.
