She needed a boyfriend for tomorrow… and the millionaire who heard her crying decided to go with her, not knowing that this lie would change both of their lives.

PART 1

“Tomorrow you will marry the man who was in my bed last night.”

Valeria read that sentence written in blue ink in her mother’s diary and felt the air inside the car turn into glass.

It was 11:47 p.m. She was sitting in Teresa’s gray Jetta in the hotel parking lot on Paseo de la Reforma, where she would stay before the wedding. Outside, Mexico City was still alive—taxis passing, distant horns, yellow lights reflecting on wet asphalt. But for Valeria, everything had frozen.

Twelve hours later, she was supposed to walk down the aisle in a white dress at San Agustín Parish, arm in arm with her mother, to become the wife of Rodrigo Mendoza.

But the black notebook she had found under the passenger seat had just split her life in two.

March 15. Today Rodrigo kissed me. I know it’s horrible. He is my daughter’s fiancé. But when he looks at me, I feel like I’m 30 again. Valeria went to the bathroom during dinner, and he held my hand under the table. I couldn’t let go.

Valeria swallowed hard. Her hands trembled so much she almost tore the page.

It couldn’t be real.

Rodrigo was attentive, polite, charming. A 34-year-old architect who could talk to her aunts, carry boxes at Christmas, and call her “my love” with that smile that convinced even stones.

Teresa always said he was a gift from God.

Now Valeria understood why.

She kept reading.

March 22. We almost got caught. Valeria called asking about centerpieces while Rodrigo was at my house “fixing a shelf.” I could barely answer because he was kissing my neck. I feel dirty. But when he hugs me, I forget I am her mother.

The diary fell onto the car floor.

Valeria covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming.

For eight months, Teresa had insisted on helping with every detail of the wedding. Dresses in Polanco, flowers at the Jamaica Market, catering, music, invitations.

And all that time, she had also been sleeping with Rodrigo.

Her phone vibrated.

Rodrigo: “I can’t sleep. Tomorrow you will finally be my wife. I love you.”

Valeria looked at the screen with icy calm. Then she went back to the diary.

April 5. Rodrigo says he has doubts about the wedding. He says with me he feels fire, not the calm he feels with Valeria.

April 12. He says Valeria never understands him like I do. I kissed him again. I am a terrible mother. I know. But I can’t stop.

Valeria remembered every ignored sign.

The phone turned face down. Her mother’s strange laughter. The afternoons at Teresa’s house. The nights Rodrigo left early.

It was all there.

Then the final entry.

May 18. Tomorrow is the wedding. Rodrigo and I agreed this will be our last night together.

Valeria closed the notebook.

That last night had been tonight.

While she laughed with her bridesmaids in Roma Norte, her mother and fiancé had been saying goodbye in a bed.

At 2:17 a.m., Valeria opened her laptop.

She wasn’t canceling the wedding yet.

Not yet.

She scanned pages, printed copies, and hid some inside her bouquet, others in an envelope for the priest.

At dawn, she smiled in the mirror like a perfect bride—while carrying a storm no one could see.

PART 2

“You’re too calm for a woman getting married in four hours,” Ximena said while the stylist adjusted her veil.

“I’ve never been more lucid,” Valeria replied.

At 10:20 a.m., Teresa entered the bridal suite.

Radiant. Proud. Loving.

“You look like a magazine cover,” she said, hugging her.

Valeria smiled.

“Do you think so?”

“Of course. Rodrigo adores you.”

The lie fell between them like broken glass.

Teresa placed a velvet box in her hands.

“Something blue.”

Inside was a silver bracelet from her grandmother.

Valeria almost wanted to scream.

“Put it on me, Mom.”

The photographer captured a perfect image.

At 11:15, Rodrigo texted:

“I saw your mother at the church. The two women of my life will make me cry today.”

Valeria smiled.

In the limousine, Teresa held her hand.

“Ready, my girl?”

“I’ve never been more ready.”

At the church, everything looked perfect—white roses, guests, music, emotion.

At 1:55 p.m., the ceremony began.

Rodrigo stood at the altar.

Handsome. Nervous. Guilty.

“You look beautiful,” he whispered.

“And you look very confident,” she replied.

Then came the moment:

“If anyone knows a reason this marriage should not happen, speak now…”

Silence.

Valeria let go of his hand.

“I do.”

Murmurs erupted.

She pulled out the pages.

“I found a diary. Written by my mother. About my fiancé.”

The church exploded.

Teresa stood.

“Valeria, no!”

Valeria began reading.

March 15. “Today Rodrigo kissed me…”

The truth filled the room like fire.

PART 3

March 22. “He was kissing my neck while my daughter called…”

April 5. “He says he feels fire with me…”

Rodrigo shook his head.

“That’s not true.”

“Then explain it,” Valeria said.

Silence.

May 18.

The final entry.

The church went silent.

Valeria looked at her mother.

“You betrayed me on my wedding day.”

Teresa broke down.

“I was going to tell you…”

“After I married him?”

Rodrigo tried to intervene.

But it was already over.

Valeria removed her grandmother’s bracelet and placed it on the altar.

“I came here to bury a lie.”

She walked out alone.

Outside, sunlight hit her like truth.

Six months later, she lived in Querétaro.

She blocked them all.

Not out of hatred—but survival.

Then a neighbor named Andrés entered her life with bread, coffee, and quiet kindness.

Slowly, she healed.

A year later, Teresa tried to call.

“I’m in therapy,” she said. “Rodrigo left. Everything was a mistake.”

Valeria replied:

“I live where you left me.”

And she hung up.

Two years later, she wore white again—but this time, in a small terrace surrounded by real love.

And when Andrés took her hand, there were no secrets between them.

Only truth.
