It’s no secret that Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin were best friends during their collegiate careers with the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the two women’s basketball stars have continued that friendship into the WNBA.

Clark was asked to talk about her relationship with Martin before the Fever’s matchup against the Seattle Storm on Thursday night.

“She’s somebody I text every single day… Just being there for one another. Just be a listening ear,” Clark said. “… She’s one of my best friends. There’s not a lot of people that really get it.

“… She’s doing great. Obviously I still wish she was my teammate.”

Martin was picked up by the reigning-champion Las Vegas Aces with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She played her way onto the roster and has since become one of the most popular players in the league.

Martin and the Aces will face off against the Washington Mystics on Saturday afternoon. Clark and the Fever will matchup against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
