City of Whitehouse declares Super Bowl Sunday as Patrick Mahomes Day

WHITEHOUSE, Texas — Ahead of big game, Whitehouse Mayor James Wansley issued a proclamation declaring Super Bowl Sunday as Patrick Mahomes Day.

On Friday, Wansley read the proclamation declaring next Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday, as a day to honor Whitehouse native and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the city.

“As we do almost every year, we would like to make a proclamation in the name of Patrick Mahomes,” Wansley said.

This is the fourth time that Super Bowl Sunday has been declared Mahomes Day as a city, once again, honors a favorite son.

“I think it’s important not to be complacent about this. To recognize this for the amazing thing that it is. Just because it’s happened before does not mean it isn’t an amazing accomplishment for Patrick, the players and for us as a community. To be able to celebrate somebody who’s made it to the highest level,” Wansley said.

Wansley recently got present Mahomes with copies of the first three proclamations when Mahomes held a speaking at the UT Tyler Cowan Center in April last year.

Around Whitehouse, signs of Super Bowl support for the quarterback are popping up everywhere.

You can watch the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 11 at CBS19.
