Shohei Ohtani, one of the top players in the league, is a fan favorite of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They are undoubtedly missing Ohtani’s moments on the mound, though.

Ohtani’s UCL ιnjury from last year was successfully operated on, but he won’t be able to throw again until 2025. Even more impressive is his two-way style of play, which goes even beyond his tremendous hitting.

When Shohei Ohtani

As the Los Angeles Angels’ ace, Ohtani experienced a few standout moments throughout his tenure. Particularly the 2021 incident involving Ohtani and Oakland A’s player Mark Canha, in which the latter nearly sparked a figҺt.

On MLB.com, Rhett Bollinger and Justice de los Santos provided documentation of the event.

Shohei Ohtani was skilled at winning games.

Shohei Ohtani had not yet been declared the AL MVP for the first time in May 2021. He opened the game for the Angels, and by the time the third inning reached its bottom, he was squarely facing Canha.

Ohtani Һit a 93.3-mph fastball that just missed Canha in the face.

Shohei Ohtani, Mark Canha exchange words

Canha looked to be saying, “Come on, Sho.”

Shohei seemed to smile as then-Angels catcher Kurt Suzuki exchanged some words with a frustrated Canha and got into a verbal altercation. Players gathered on the field as a result. Shohei, however, maintained his composure and made an apologetic gesture with his right hand to resolve the matter.

Despite Ohtani’s Һit on Canha in the sixth, there was no figҺt. The players and team manager declared that the incident was just an in-game occurrence following the A’s 3-1 victory.

According to MLB.com, Ohtani stated, “I wasn’t really thinking too much of it,” through interpreter Ippei Mizuhara. “He’s a good hitter, and I need to make my pitches in, and I did,” the pitcher said. Nothing was intentional or done with any intent. That concludes it.

In the heat of the moment, it’s just the two guys. After that, everything was just “water under the bridge,” according to Suzuki.

Mark Canha, Shohei Ohtani scuffle not big deal, Bob Melvin says – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

At the time, A’s manager Bob Melvin, of the San Francisco Giants, stated:

Melvin remarked, “Sometimes, certain things upset you.” The ball appeared to be headed straight for his face. He simply responded. That’s the reality. This is a sentimental game. never reacted when he was struck. He’s been Һit before. It is not and will not be the only instance.Baseball players frequently engage in on-field brawls, so this may be an unforgettable moment for Ohtani.

After the incident, years have gone by, and Ohtnai is currently a prominent player in MLB. Since joining the Dodgers, he has had one goal in mind: to win the World Series.

Shohei Ohtani has proven his worth in the Cactus League thus far, and supporters anticipate seeing much more of him.
