Faпs Caп’t Stop Laυghiпg as ‘Natioпal Treasυre’ Jasoп Kelce Sets ‘Terrible Precedeпt’ at Pro Bowl
‘You’ve got to go big or go home,” the Eagles center exclaimed after the challenge.
Jason Kelce may not have made it to the Super Bowl this year, but he’s having a blast taking on the Pro Bowl down in Orlando, Florida—though, maybe not as much fun as fans are having watching from home.
In a video uploaded to YouTube by ESPN, the Eagles center took on the long snap competition during the Skills Showdown on Thursday, Feb. 1, making it his mission to get the ball through the smallest hole.
He faced away from the goal board that was set up two lines behind him. It featured five holes of varying sizes—with each worth one to five points—for competitors to attempt to launch the football between their legs, with the smallest—worth five points positioned smack dab in the middle of the board.
Kelce seemed to make it his mission to make it through the five-pointer before his 45 seconds were up, steadily launching each ball in a straight line down the field and pretty consistently hitting just below the opening.
With just a few seconds left, on his penultimate throw, he scored—setting what one of the sportscasters called a “terrible precedent” in only trying to “get the five.”
“Listen,” Kelce told him. “If you’re not first, your last. You’ve got to go big or go home.”
He added, “The five was just speaking to me. Unfortunately, it didn’t answer too much when I called.”
Fans jumped to his defense, though, with one pointing out that his throws “were insanely good though.” They added, “That 5 is a little high for a realistic long snap.”
“That’s what I was thinking,” another agreed. “He was nailing right under it over and over, right where it probably should go.”
Others can’t wait to hear the “national treasure” talk about it on the next episode of the podcast he shares with brother Travis Kelce, New Heights, with one noting that he “made himself fodder for the next edition” and plenty of others dropping laughing emojis in the comment section.
Unfortunately, its release may be slightly delayed from their typical weekly schedule, as the Pro Bowl continues through Sunday, Feb. 4—the same day Travis heads to Las Vegas to start preparing for the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 11. We don’t know what his practice schedule looks like, but it may interfere with their ability to record before next Wednesday.
