As per the photographer, security guards wielding umbrellas awaited Taylor Swift’s arrival at the wharf. As Swift and her team walked up, a security guard aggressively thrust an umbrella into his face and camera. Allegedly, as Swift entered the car, her father unexpectedly charged at him, delivering a punch to his face. Mr. McDonald, humorously mentioned that one security guard promptly denied involvement, but he only realized later that it was Taylor’s father.
“I didn’t realize it was her dad to start with,” he said. “I looked back at the pictures and saw he was holding hands with Taylor – it then became evident that was her father.”
McDonald wasted no time in filing a police complaint against the 71-year-old Scott Swift, claiming he was struck in the face.
Expressing his confusion about the sudden outburst, McDonald told News.com.au:
“It was a shock … There was no need for it; the security had it under control. I’ll leave it in the police’s hands now.”
Remarkably, McDonald stated that he didn’t require medical assistance and downplayed the altercation, describing it as “just a punch in the chops.”
Local authorities did not explicitly confirm Scott Swift as the alleged assailant but reported that a 71-year-old man was accused of assaulting a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf during the early morning hours.
Responding to the allegations, Taylor Swift’s spokesperson provided a statement to Page Six, refuting the claims against Scott Swift.
The statement clarified, “Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.”
According to Swift’s camp, the incident occurred in the context of ensuring the singer’s safety.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour, which commenced on February 16, 2024, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), concluded on February 26, 2024, at the Accor Stadium in Sydney.
