There are few things better in life than … options.

Jason Kelce, a celebrated veteran of the Philadelphia Eagles, a shirtless bon vivant and a coveted media prospect, has options.

But while Kelce himself has yet to really confirm the speculation of his retirement – we know he is being courted by the likes of ESPN, Fox and Amazon to become an analyst for them but we also know that he’s a football free agent with the Eagles wanting him back and the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs surely willing to visit in a way that would team him with brother Jason – his teammates are free to speculate.

“There’s no shot,” Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata said of his buddy Kelce staying in football. “You’re telling me he’s going shirts off in the games, gambling in the casinos, he’s coming back? No way. He’s having too much fun. He’s out there living his life.”

Mailata may have been speaking with his tongue in his cheek because of course, Jason at 36 can both “party” in the offseason and play once the 2024 football season commences. But retirement is clearly an option here, as evidenced by a recent exchange between Kelce and an autograph-seeking fan.

“Please don’t retire, for the love of football,” the fan said to Jason at the Pro Bowl.

Jason’s response: “I’m gonna try not to.”

The Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast was likely a revelation to Jason about the opportunities that exist and about how his talents might fit in the entertainment world. And yes, his brother’s sweetheart Taylor Swift has probably opened up the Kelce family’s eyes in that regard, too.

But as Jason decided … his teammate is saying goodbye.

“I’m going to miss him for sure, man,” Mailata said. “This has been the greatest six years of my life for sure, being here in the NFL and getting to meet people like Jason Kelce.”
