Patrick Mahomes had an interesting explanation as to why he sees Tom Brady as the NFL GOAT (greatest of all time) following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super bowl 58 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Mahomes is remarkably on a compelling trajectory to challenge Brady as the greatest NFL player ever. Through six seasons as a starter, Mahomes has three Super Bowl championship rings, three Super Bowl MVP awards, two league MVP awards, 15 playoff wins and 219 touchdown passes.

Speaking to NFL Network after the game, Mahomes was asked about his comparison to the seven-time Super Bowl champion. Mahomes admitted that it’ll be difficult, “because Brady beat me in the Super Bowl.”

Of course, Brady won his first five rings before Mahomes entered the NFL. The former won his final four rings in his age-37 to age-43 seasons and played up until the age of 45. If Mahomes can play well into his 40s, he’ll certainly challenge Brady’s seven championship rings.

Most fans and analysts won’t consider Mahomes the GOAT just yet given Brady’s superior stats and ring count. But there’s certainly a case to be made that the 28-year-old is the most talented, all-around decorated player in NFL history.

Mahomes’ highlight reel package, athleticism, pocket awareness and ability to change games with his slick arm and improvisational skills speak for themselves, after all.
