Patrick Mahomes, Sr., 54 – father of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes II – was arrested in Texas on Saturday on a charge of driving while intoxicated, jail records show.
He was released Sunday afternoon after his bond was set at $10,000, the records show. This was at least his third DWI charge.
The charge comes a week before the younger Mahomes prepares to lead the Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl next Sunday.
The elder Mahomes is a former professional athlete, too. He was a Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher for 11 seasons, from 1993 to 2003, and was part of the 1999 NL playoffs with the Mets, The Associated Press reported.
