Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes is sporting a unique T-shirt that will look familiar to some Delaware residents.

Mahomes’ tee features the image of a cartoon-style Black character rocking a baseball cap and gold chain and swinging a golf club.

That shirt is from Eastside Golf, an urban lifestyle golf brand. The popular brand is run by founder Olajuwon Ajanaku from Atlanta and co-founder Earl A. Cooper from Wilmington, a pair who played golf together on Morehouse College’s golf team and won a national championship together.

On Sunday, the same day Mahomes won his third Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, Cooper shared a photo on his personal Instagram page of the three-time Super Bowl MVP wearing one of his shirts, to the delight of the Delaware man’s followers.

“Awesome! Patrick Mahomes sporting an Eastside Logo shirt. Congrats!” one fan wrote.

“I hate this guy but I love this brand so I like him now let’s goooooo,” a salty but sweet supporter said. “we love this for you!!!” cheered another.

Eastside Golf teams up with Jordan Brand

NBA legend Michael Jordan and his Jordan Brand have done multiple shoe collaborations with Eastside Golf, a company co-founded by Earl A. Cooper of Wilmington.

Last year Eastside Golf and the Jordan Brand teamed up for another collaboration, this time it was “The 1961 Project,” which is the year the PGA lifted its ban on Black golfers.

That collaboration, which features gear with the word “Change” on it, was about honoring those who paved the way for Black golfers. This partnership included a popular pair of green and black Eastside Golf x Air Jordan 1 sneakers that displayed the messages: “1961” and “Change.”
