“Why the f–k are you blaming all the losses on them?” the tight end teased his brother.
Travis Kelce may play offense most of the time, but he’s not afraid to step up to the defensive line when it comes to the Swifties.
During the Thursday (Feb. 8) episode of his and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the two brothers jokingly went to bat about the major influence of Taylor Swift’s fans on a recent poll they ran via X. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Philadelphia Eagles center had asked listeners to vote for their favorite NFL team name earlier in the week, but after Travis’ team made it through to the third round of their bracket, the elder Kelce accused Swifties of voting for the 2023 Super Bowl champions out of favoritism.
“The Swifties have this unrealistic infatuation with the Chiefs and Travis Kelce, and they’re only voting based on their love for you,” Jason argued. “Not on their love for the team name. So it wasn’t a realistic representation.”
Travis, however, wasn’t having it. “This is ridiculous that you’re just throwing everything on the Swifties! You’re ridiculous,” he told his brother, laughing.
He later added, “Why the f–k are you blaming all the losses on them?”
The two Kelces are currently in Las Vegas ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl, which airs Sunday (Feb. 11) from Allegiant Stadium. Travis and the Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers between performances from Post Malone, Reba McEntire and Halftime Show headliner Usher.
Fans are hopeful that Swift will continue her attendance streak at Travis’ games by appearing in Vegas this weekend, although she has a string of Eras Tour shows across the world in Tokyo through Saturday (Feb. 10). She was present at the AFC Championship game in late January, and joined her pro athlete boyfriend on the field after the Chiefs’ victory against the Baltimore Ravens.
And while Travis is keeping his eyes on the prize this week, Jason revealed he plans to hit the casino circuit during his time in Vegas ahead of the big game. “I think I’m just gonna walk by and put a bet on 8 and 7 in honor of my man, Travis Kelce right here, every time I walk past a roulette table,” he said, referencing his little brother’s jersey No. 87.
Travis then suggested an alternative: “13, your favorite number,” he reminded Jason, indirectly revealing that the Eagles star and “Anti-Hero” singer share the same lucky digits. (Swift has long been vocal about her love for the number, and even celebrated her 13th Grammy win Feb. 4 by announcing her new album, The Tortured Poets Department.)
