Travis Kelce sends prayers to Kansas City after shocking incident at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl 58 celebration quickly turned tragic, when multiple suspects opened fire during the downtown parade.
Per multiple reports, two armed suspects opened fire during the parade. One person was killed in the shootings, and 10-15 others have been reported injured. Shortly after 2 p.m. Central Time (3:00 p.m. EST), the Kansas City Police Department announced that two armed suspects were in custody.
About an hour after the shootings, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took to X/Twitter to offer his prayers for Kansas City:
The parade began at 11 a.m. local time in downtown, three days after the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers to win their second straight Super Bowl title, as well as their third in five years. The 28-year-old Mahomes was named Super Bowl 58 MVP after throwing for 333 yards and two touchdowns in the big game.
News cameras captured authorities taking away one of the suspects in handcuffs near W. Pershing Road.

Citing sources of federal law enforcement, Tom Winter of NBC News reported that the shooting was apparently “criminal in nature” and not an act of terrorism.
We’ll be sure to provide more details on the investigation when they become available. Our thoughts are with the Kansas City community during this horrific time.
