Swift and Kelce are both among the nominees at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, which are to be held in Santa Monica on Sunday.
This weekend, Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar will be the stage for the 49th edition of the People’s Choice Awards, a pop-culture prize ceremony in which the winners are decided by a fan vote.
This year, the blockbuster movie Barbie tops the film nominees with nine nods, while hit series Only Murders in the Building leads the way in television, with seven.
Can Swift beat Ellen’s People’s Choice record?
In music, Taylor Swift is one of four artists who head up the awards contenders. Luke Combs, Nicki Minaj and Morgan Wallen all join the 34-year-old on an unsurpassed five nominations.
A candidate for accolades including Pop Artist of the Year and Social Celebrity of the Year, Swift has 16 People’s Choice Awards to her name so far – and has the chance to surpass Ellen DeGeneres’ record career haul of 20.
Kelce in frame for People’s Choice recognition
Meanwhile, the singer-songwriter’s boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, is also among the 2024 nominees. The tight end is in the running for Athlete of the Year, after a 2023 season that saw him help the Kansas City Chiefs to a second consecutive Super Bowl win.
With Swift and Kelce both up for awards, the question is: will the world’s most talked-about celebrity couple step out together at this year’s People’s Choice gala?
Timings tight for Swift Taylor return
It would be a major surprise if Swift made it to the event in Santa Monica. As part of her ongoing Eras Tour, she is scheduled to give a concert in Melbourne, Australia, at 6:20pm local time on Sunday.
California is 19 hours behind Melbourne, so it is just about possible for her to hotfoot it back to the States in time – as she did for last Sunday’s Super Bowl – but it seems highly unlikely.
Kelce has not publicly confirmed whether or not he’ll be attending the People’s Choice Awards.
The nine-time Pro Bowler’s fellow nominees for Athlete of the Year are Coco Gauff, Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, Lionel Messi, Sabrina Ionescu, Simone Biles and Stephen Curry.

Kravitz, Sandler to be honoured
