The NFL stars are opening a restaurant in Kansas City

Patrick Mahomes lets out secret about his restaurant with Travis Kelce, with dish dedicated to Andy Reid

Ever wondered what it would be like to dine at a restaurant put together by two NFL icons? Well, wonder no more, because Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are opening up a restaurant in the city – with a special dish reserved for their head coach Andy Reid.

On the field, quarterback Mahomes and tight end Kelce make for a great partnership, recently passing 50 all-time touchdown combinations in the 2023 season.

The pair celebrated their success after winning Super Bowl LVIII back in February with a 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, and it seems they are willing to take their partnership into the culinary world.

The Chiefs duo are opening a steakhouse called ‘1587 Prime’ at the Loews Hotel in downtown Kansas City, with the name inspired by the combination of their jersey numbers 15 and 87 together.

Mahomes and Kelce will team up with Noble 33, a Las Vegas-based restaurant chain, to give their fans a taste of their favorite foods while out on the road together, with further franchises planned if the opening is a success.

“Me and Travis have been working on it for a while, we took some stuff we knew together, we’re always at restaurants,” Mahomes said.

“We have a love for bringing people together. I think the biggest thing for us is that we’re going to do everything we can to bring people together and what better place than Kansas City?”

Mahomes gives away the secret

While Mahomes has held his cards close to his chest on what type of food will be served, the 28-year-old let it slip that their coach Reid will be featured on the menu – not literally, of course.

Amongst Mahomes‘ favorite things – his love of ketchup is well-documented – the pair are planning several other NFL-themed foods.

“I’m going to have a steakhouse, I think I’ve given away too many things, but a lot of great stuff, a few of my favorites… ketchup will be there,” he added. “And hopefully we’re going to win some games at Arrowhead Stadium, and then we get to go and have a few drinks and food with it.”

Reid, who guided the Chiefs to their third Super Bowl under his management, is famous for his love for the traditional American cheeseburger. In fact, when they won the AFC Championship game, he celebrated with a cheeseburger in bed.

When asked if there will be one dedicated to Reid at their eaterie, Mahomes chuckled and replied: “That will be on there!”
