I’m really sad that Texas Football had a wide receiver that runs 4.22, another 6’2 receiver that runs 4.35, and we didn’t win a national championship. 🥹🥹🥹<a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/XavierWorthy?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#XavierWorthy</a> <a href=”https://t.co/ZpkTq5Uvl6″>pic.twitter.com/ZpkTq5Uvl6</a>

This is what a 4.25 second 40 yard dash looks like. The Worthy Bird Catches the Worm. <a href=”https://twitter.com/XavierWorthy?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>@XavierWorthy</a> <a href=”https://t.co/H2j0Dk7h2B”>pic.twitter.com/H2j0Dk7h2B</a>

Worthy’s time beats the previous record of 4.22, set by John Ross III at the 2017 combine. He would go on to be selected No. 9 overall and was the third receiver off the board.

Worthy was rated as the No. 8 receiver in the class by Bleacher Report’s Derrik Klassen and was projected as a third-round pick. Saturday’s showing could help him move up the board, even in a draft class loaded with talents like Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze.

Worthy is coming off a 2023 season where he had 75 catches for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns while helping the Longhorns win the Big 12 and reach the College Football Playoff for the first time.

The NFL Draft is set to take place April 25-27 in Detroit.
