Mahomes did say he’s glad to see Sneed get the payday that he deserves.

Kansas City Chiefs v Arizona Cardinals

The dust has finally settled for L’Jarius Sneed, and while things didn’t work out for him to remain employed as a cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs, we doubt he’s complaining about being treasured by another NFL franchise to the tune of $55 million in guaranteed money.

On Friday night, the Chiefs and Tennessee Titans completed a deal to send Sneed to Nashville for a future third-round choice (2025) and a swap of picks in the seventh round in this year’s NFL Draft. The Titans then announced a new contract for four years and up to $76 million.

Shortly before the deal was announced, Patrick Mahomes was in attendance at this year’s 101 Awards (where he won Most Valuable Player) and was asked by reporters on hand about the status of Sneed. Mahomes detailed what he wanted to see happen.

Mahomes answered questions about Sneed’s future at the 101 Awards on Saturday.

“No, I don’t have any say in that. I think you’ll hear it from everybody on our team that we want Sneed. The player he is, the person that he is. He’s one of those guys that’s hungry every single day he’s in the building.

“He’s not going to be the most vocal guy. He’s not always going to be yelling and screaming. But the mindset he has and the determination in how he practices—you see how he leads those guys every day. We want everybody to get their money and so whatever happens, we’ll be excited for him but hopefully that’s with the Kansas City Chiefs.”

It was only a matter of hours until Sneed would be traded away from the team, but Mahomes at least had to happy that Sneed did, indeed, get his money.
