J.D. Martinez, a free agent and former star of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is allegedly in talks with the Los Angeles Angels. The team is thought by many to be among the top landing locations for former Cy Young winner Blake Snell, especially with Opening Day drawing closer. Snell was recently linked to the team.

Mets talking to J.D. Martinez — and the interest is mutual

In addition to Snell, the Angels reportedly have negotiations with a three-time Silver Slugger winner, according to Jon Heyman. Martinez seems like a perfect fit, and it appears they want to add some serious punch after Mike Trout.

The 36-year-old designated hitter made a significant comeback to the Dodgers in 2022 after signing a $10 million, one-year contract. In 113 games, he batted.271, had 33 home runs, and 103 RBI.

The Angels would want to sign Snell and Martinez this offseason in order to cover the huge vacuum left by Shohei Ohtani on the roster before the new season begins.

MLB writer expands on rumors that J.D. Martinez rejected the Giants’ offer.

Journalist Alex Pavlovic clarified, meanwhile, that Martinez’s team presented the Giants with a counteroffer that the team felt uneasy about, which is why the agreement fell through.

After that, the organization decided to go with Jorge Soler and inked the All-Star DH to a $42 million, three-year contract.
