JEWELL LOYD’S HOT FORM CONTINUES AS SEATTLE STORM DO DOUBLE OVER DALLAS WINGS, CONNECTICUT SUN SEE OFF PHOENIX MERCURY

Jewell Loyd scored 26 points in three quarters to inspire the Seattle Storm to a 95-71 win over the Dallas Wings on Monday. It was their second victory in the fixture in just three days, stretching the Storm’s home winning streak to eight games and putting them fourth in the standings. Elsewhere, the Connecticut Sun beat the Phoenix Mercury 83-72 as Brionna Jones starred.

The Seattle Storm did the double over the Dallas Wings as Jewell Loyd’s 26 points helped them to a 95-71 victory in the WNBA.

Loyd’s haul was the bedrock of a second victory in three days for Seattle over Dallas as they stretched their home winning run to eight games in a row.

The Storm quickly took the initiative and led 45-37 at half-time, Loyd landing 13 of their points.

Her hot streak continued in the second half as a third-quarter 3-pointer took Seattle’s lead to 22 points after a 15-2 run.

Loyd sat out the fourth quarter, meaning she was unable to hit the 30-point mark for a third consecutive game, but Nneka Ogwumike finished strongly as she made 14.

Ezi Magbegor (12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Skylar Diggins-Smith (8 points, 5 assists) also impressed for the Storm.

Arike Ogunbowale led the way for Dallas with 21 points and 5 steals, with Natasha Howard (15) and Odyssey Sims (12) also hitting double figures for points.

Seattle (13-6) sit fourth across the entire league, while Dallas are rock-bottom with a 4-15 record, which includes just one win in their last 10 games.

In Phoenix, Brionna Jones starred as the Connecticut Sun beat the Phoenix Mercury 83-72.

Jones finished up with 18 points, while Tyasha Harris was on fire in the third quarter, when she scored all 12 of her points.

The Mercury were without injured Diana Taurasi and Rebecca Allen as they fell to a second loss in two days following their defeat to Indiana on Sunday.

Connecticut are second in the standings with a 15-4 record for the season, with Phoenix sixth on 9-10.
