Las Vegas Aces star Kate Martin remains best friends with her former Iowa Hawkeye teammate, Caitlin Clark. While they’re on different teams, Martin continues to cheer for Clark.

Martin closely watched the Fever’s 88-87 loss to the Sky on Sunday, as the Aces face Angel Reese and the Sky on June 27. While Clark did her best to carry the team, putting up 16 points, breaking a franchise record with 13 assists, the Fever couldn’t pull out the win.

Speaking to reporters on June 24, Martin opened about her relationship with the WNBA’s No. 1 overall pick and how she offers Clark continued support.

“I don’t know if there’s too much I can do beside just be a friend, right?” Martin said. “Be a listening ear, being there for her and being there for everyone. I mean Caitlin is phenomenal. And she is having a great rookie season.”

“I think people are really hard on her and expecting her to be perfect. That’s unrealistic, right?” Martin continued. “I’m going to support her through everything.

She’s one of my best friends so, I’m just there for her. Sometimes just talking about other things than basketball if that’s what we need to do. I’m just trying to be the best friend I can there.”
