The Las Vegas Aces travel to Wintrust Arena to play the Chicago Sky on June 27. For Aces guard Kate Martin, this marks the first time she’ll face fellow rookies, Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, in the WNBA.

The Sky, fresh off an 88-87 win over the Indiana Fever, are looking to keep the momentum going. Same goes for the Aces, a team returning to championship form with the return of Chelsea Grey.

Speaking to reporters on June 24, Martin shared honest opinion Reese and Cardoso before the matchup in Chicago.

The former Iowa Hawkeye gave Reese, the 6-foot-3 forward, and Cardoso, a 6-foot-7 center, their flowers.

“I’m really happy for them for how they’ve been playing,” Martin said. “They’re just… they’re big! They’re strong. They’re athletic post players. They go hard every play.”

“They O-board like crazy. They rebound like crazy. They kinda hang their hats on that,” the former Iowa Hawkeye said. “They’re really good. Everybody knows that and everyone can see that.

In order to defeat the Sky, “We’re gonna have to help each other, no one on an island.”
