Philippine Volleyball 2025: A Year of High Hopes and Historic Milestones
2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Philippine volleyball. With a packed schedule of exciting tournaments both locally and internationally, the sport is poised to capture the nation’s attention.
The highlight of the year will undoubtedly be the Men’s World Championship, where the Philippines will be making history as they participate for the very first time. This prestigious tournament, co-hosted by Poland and Slovenia from September 12 to 28, 2025, will see the Philippine team compete in Pool A alongside formidable opponents like Iran and Egypt. This is a momentous occasion for Philippine volleyball, marking a significant step forward on the global stage.
While the World Championship takes center stage, the domestic scene will also be bustling with activity. The PSL All-Filipino Conference, scheduled for December 2024 and January 2025, will continue to showcase the talent and passion of Filipino players. The AVC Women’s Champions League will also be held in Vietnam from April 20 to 27, 2025, providing an opportunity for Filipino clubs to compete at the highest level in Asia.
Beyond these major events, the UAAP National University Lady Bulldogs will be embarking on out-of-town trainings and games, further honing their skills and preparing for the upcoming season. The Spiker’s Turf and Shakey’s Super League will also continue to provide exciting and competitive matches for fans to enjoy.
Looking ahead to the end of the year, the ABC Championships in December 2025 will offer another chance for the Philippine teams to test their mettle against top regional contenders.
2025 also carries the weight of a long-awaited aspiration: ending the 20-year medal drought in the Southeast Asian Games. This is a significant goal for Philippine volleyball, and the entire nation will be rooting for their teams to achieve this long-awaited success.
The coming year promises to be an exciting one for Philippine volleyball. With a blend of international competitions, domestic leagues, and the unwavering pursuit of ending the medal drought, the sport is poised to captivate the hearts of Filipinos and inspire a new generation of players.
