Abigail Maraño Disappointed After Chery Tiggo’s 3-0 Loss to Creamline: “I Want to Beat Alyssa!”

The PVL All-Filipino Conference clash between Chery Tiggo Crossovers and Creamline Cool Smashers ended in a dominant sweep for Creamline, winning in straight sets (3-0). A Crushing Defeat for Chery Tiggo

Chery Tiggo struggled to find their footing throughout the match, as Creamline’s clinical execution and superior teamwork proved too much for the Crossovers. With strong performances from Bea De Leon, Tots Carlos, and Jema Galanza, Creamline maintained control from the first serve to the final point.

However, one glaring absence caught the attention of fans and players alike — Alyssa Valdez, Creamline’s team captain and star player, did not suit up for the game.

Abi Maraño Speaks Out: “It Felt Disrespectful”

Following the defeat, a visibly frustrated Maraño did not hold back during the post-game interview.

“I feel like our team is being looked down upon when CCS gave Bea De Leon as the key player to play against me. It’s like they didn’t even take us seriously,” said Maraño.

The veteran middle blocker, known for her intense passion on the court, emphasized her desire to face Creamline’s top guns, particularly Valdez.

“Next time, I want to beat Alyssa. I don’t care who they put in front of me, but I’m ready for a real fight.”

Bea De Leon Stands Strong

Despite Maraño’s remarks, Bea De Leon delivered a standout performance, contributing crucial blocks and quick attacks that kept Chery Tiggo at bay. The former Ateneo standout was unfazed by the challenge and proved her value as a reliable player in Creamline’s roster depth.

De Leon responded diplomatically after hearing Maraño’s comments:

“I just focused on doing my job and helping my team win. Every player on this roster has a role to play.”

Alyssa Valdez’s Absence Explained

Creamline management revealed post-match that Alyssa Valdez was sidelined due to lingering concerns about her knee injury. While her absence was a precautionary measure, fans speculated whether Valdez was being reserved for upcoming crucial matchups.

Valdez, known for her sportsmanship, took to social media to acknowledge Chery Tiggo’s effort, saying:

“Great fight, Chery Tiggo. Rest assured, I’ll be back soon to face you on the court.”
