Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso may have been rivals in women’s college basketball. But the two talented hoopers moved onto the WNBA, where they were both drafted to play for the Chicago Sky. On Wednesday afternoon, Reese and Cardoso both suited up in their Chicago Sky uniforms for Media Day.

The Baltimore native’s junior season was even more impressive. In Reese’s first year in Baton Rouge, she averaged career-highs of 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per contest while shooting 52.5% from the floor.

Reese sent waves through the women’s basketball world, earning First-Team All-American honors and being named the 2023 Final Four Most Outstanding Player after guiding LSU to a national championship.

It may take a while for Reese and Cardoso to get used to wearing the same jersey. Although they are teammates now, they waged war against each other for two years in the SEC. This past season, South Carolina and LSU faced off twice. Cardoso and her fellow Gamecocks walked away with a win on both occasions.

Kamilla Cardoso had a dominant college hoops career

Cardoso began her career at Syracuse before transferring after one season. She won two national titles (2022 and ’24) with head coach Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks.

Cardoso injured her knee in the Final Four against NC State. Following some treatment, she played in the national title game against Iowa and dominated. Cardoso had 15 points, 17 rebounds and two assists in the game to clinch a title and an undefeated season for the Gamecocks.

The last time LSU and South Carolina met was in the SEC Tournament Championship. In that heated battle, Reese tallied 15 points and 13 rebounds. For the Gamecocks, Cardoso notched eight points, six rebounds and three blocks.
