Macaulay Culkin reveals ‘truth’ about relationship with Michael Jackson in Esquire interview

The Home Alone child star remained close to the singer until his death in 2009.

Macaulay Culkin has provided a rare insight into his relationship with Michael Jackson in a new interview.

The 39-year-old, who rose to fame as a child star in the 1990s, told Esquire magazine that he wanted to share the “truth” about his relationship with the late King of Pop.

The pair’s relationship has been at the centre of rumours after allegations about Jackson’s sexual abuse of young boys first came to light.

Following a high profile case in 2005, the Beat it singer was acquitted on 10 charges, including four counts of child molestation and one of attempted child molestation.

The Home Alone actor has always denied Jackson ever sexually abused him and remained close to the singer until his death in 2009.

“He never did anything to me. I never saw him do anything,” Culkin said.

“And especially at this flash point in time, I’d have no reason to hold anything back.”

He also appeared to reference recent sexual abuse allegations made against Jackson saying “now is a good time to speak up”.

“And if I had something to speak up about, I would totally do it,” he added.

“But no, I never saw anything; he never did anything.”

Leaving Neverland

In 2019 a documentary titled Leaving Neverland detailed further allegations by Australian Wade Robson and James Safechuck who claim to have been befriended by the singer in their childhood.

Robson told the documentary he was five and living in Brisbane when he met his idol after winning a Michael Jackson impersonation competition.

In 1989, when he was seven he was invited to spend the week at the Neverland ranch where the abuse began.

Jackson’s family and his estate have denied the accounts given by the men, calling them a “rehash of dated and discredited allegations”.
