The UCONN women are carrying a lot of momentum towards the NCAA tournament, and they capped the season off in style with some awards.
They completed the sweep of the Big East weekly awards, as Paige Bueckers was named Player of the Week and KK Arnold won the Freshman of the Week honor, the league announced Monday.
Bueckers averaged 24.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in two wins last week.
She also shot a team-high 64.3% from the field.
She scored 31 points on 11-for-15 shooting vs. Villanova, making it her fourth 30-point game of the season.
She added 17 points in 22 minutes on 7-for-13 shooting at Providence on Saturday.
As for Arnold, who won the award for the sixth time this season, she averaged 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game last week.
Against Villanova, she notched seven points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals.
At Providence, Arnold scored 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting and added a season-high seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Huskies went 18-0 in the Big East this season.
It was the 18th time in program history that UCONN went undefeated in conference play, including the 11th time in the Big East.
The 10th-ranked Huskies (26-5) are the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s Big East Women’s Basketball Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville.
They will face No. 8-seed Butler (14-15, 6-12) or No. 9-seed Providence (12-19, 6-12) in the quarterfinals on Saturday at noon on FS1.
