The Hawkeyes guard revolutionized NCAA women’s basketball.
Caitlin Clark continues to break records. After breaking the record for most career points in NCAA women’s basketball, the Iowa Hawkeyes guard is surely responsible for the unofficial record for the longest line to watch a women’s basketball game.
Just on Thursday, February 15, Clark broke Kelsey Plum’s career mark of 3,527 points, reaching 3,569 in a 106-89 victory over the Michigan Wolverines.
Since then, the player had not returned to the duels, until tonight.
Clark and her Hawkeyes visited the Indiana Hoosiers today, already in the final stretch of the regular season, and the public had to line up for hours to enter the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
If there’s any official record for the longest line in this sport, Caitlin probably just broke it.
Caitlin’s numbers
The Hawkeyes guard began to stand out almost from the beginning of her college basketball career. Her 799 points, 177 rebounds, and 214 assists in her first season put her in the eyes of experts from that moment on.

As the years passed, Clark gained notoriety, until this season that she made headlines in the sports newspapers, especially when it became evident that she was on the path to writing her name in the history books.
After her feat last week, some thought the phenomenon would begin to disappear.
Far from it, people are still watching each of Clark’s games, now hoping that she will break “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s overall record of 3,668 points.
The “Clark Phenomenon”
One hundred points behind the mark, Caitlin will not break it against the Hoosiers, but fans want to witness the path to the possible feat.
Proof of this is that the line tonight was so long that it had to be interrupted twice as it crossed two streets.
So far, it seems obvious that Clark’s magnet will continue to draw crowds to women’s basketball games.
In fact, tickets to the Big 10 conference championship tournament, where Iowa plays, have already sold out.
In her final year of collegiate eligibility, Caitlin is about to make the jump to the professional hardcourt, where his charisma and skill will almost certainly continue to draw unprecedented crowds.
