On Friday, Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and the Phoenix Mercury got back on track with a 92-78 victory over Dearica Hamby and the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Mercury moved to 9-8 on the season, good for fourth in the Western Conference standings. The Sparks dropped to 4-14 and sit in last place.

In a postgame interview, Taurasi discussed the upcoming game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. She used two words to describe the young Fever team: “Super talented.”

“Obviously, Indiana’s another super talented young team that’s going to come in here and play well. The beauty about being young is you don’t know any better. You can play carefree and go into these buildings and let it fly,” Taurasi said.

Against the Sparks, Taurasi scored 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting and 5-of-8 from three. She also notched four rebounds and six assists. Griner added a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi (3) holds back Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner (42) after a foul call in the second half against the Chicago Sky at Footprint Center.
