Fans turned Kim Mulkey’s awkward postgame exchange with MTSU’s Savannah Wheeler into a hilarious meme.
The opening weekend of the women’s NCAA tournament hasn’t necessarily been an easy road for Kim Mulkey and LSU.
The Tigers survived an early scare in the first half against Rice on Friday before pulling away in the second half.
Mulkey would later hold a press conference in an effort to preempt an upcoming Washington Post article that she claimed will paint her in a negative light.
On Sunday, it was more of the same with LSU looking shaky against a double-digit seed. No. 11 Middle Tennessee State held a nine-point lead before LSU and Flau’jae Johnson completely took over to win, 83-56.
When it came time for the postgame handshake, Mulkey wanted to console MTSU star Savannah Wheeler who had herself a 21-point performance.
She just went about that consoling in an odd way.
Mulkey put her hands on Wheeler’s face and likely complimented her on the phenomenal game.
But as far as consolations go, please don’t grab someone’s face like that.
