The first quarter of the LSU Tigers’ loss to the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks in the SEC Tournament Championship got off to a heated start between Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, but head coach Kim Mulkey did not think the game was physical enough.

Mulkey, 61, had a sideline outburst with a reporter after the end of the first quarter because she did not think the entire tournament lacked physicality and eventually received her wish.

“Come on now,” Mulkey responded. “I don’t think it’s been physical this tournament.

What do you want me to say? I think we did fine. The same thing happened at our place. We had a lead then gave up 3s at the end of the quarter.

We just gave up 3s, had two turnovers, gave up two free throws, gave up a bucket.

“That’s how good teams beat you. They take advantage of opportunities.

We come out. We take the lead and then we have turnover at the end of the quarter and they go up [and take] a three-point lead.

Same thing happened in Baton Rouge.”

Flau’Jae Johnson’s brother arrested

The game turned violent with two minutes left in the fourth quarter when LSU’s Flau’Jae Johnson flopped to the ground after Cardoso shoved her.

Members from both teams started pushing each other and Johnson’s brother jumped from to the stands to the court to defend his sister.

He was handcuffed and arrested for doing so as police officers took control of the situation. South Carolina managed to close out the title victory.
