Molly Davis suffers knee injury in Hawkeyes’ win over Ohio State

Fifth-year senior was carried off the floor, pushed to center court in a wheelchair for postgame Senior Day ceremony

When Molly Davis was carried off the floor, a manager on each side, she gave a thumbs-up sign with each hand.

The news might not be as optimistic in the coming days.

Davis sustained a knee injury in the second quarter of Iowa’s 93-83 victory over Ohio State on Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

“That’s the hard part (about the win),” Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder said. “We had to regain our focus.

“I don’t know the extent of the injury, not until (Monday). Everybody say a prayer for me.”

Caitlin Clark had just scored to put Iowa in front, 36-26. Shortly after the Buckeyes inbounded and Davis went for a steal, her knee buckled with 6:39 left in the first half.

Davis was carried off. When she returned, she was in a wheelchair and her right leg was bandaged.

She was pushed in the wheelchair to midcourt for the postgame Senior Day ceremony.

A fifth-year senior who transferred from Central Michigan after her junior season, Davis has started in 26 of 30 games this year, averaging 6.3 points per game.
