Paige Bueckers Sends a Clear Message to WNBA’s Rookie Class.

Paige Bueckers could’ve easily been one of the top picks in the 2024 WNBA Draft. But, the UConn Huskies superstar ultimately elected to return for her senior season at the collegiate level.

Still, Bueckers is keeping a close eye on this year’s talented rookie class.

Connecticut Huskies guard Paige Bueckers (5) reacts in the second quarter against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the semifinals of the Final Four of the womens 2024 NCAA Tournament at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

“It’s impressive. I think the rookie class is doing extremely well,” Bueckers said when asked about the growth of the game on Friday. “Just to see the level of talent, the teams and how well they’re doing. It’s fun to watch.”

Bueckers specifically mentioned Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark and her effect on the growth of the sport.

“Caitlin has brought so many new eyes to the game, and we appreciate that,” Bueckers said earlier in her response. “When people tune in to watch her, they leave the game fans of so many more. I think the game is growing a lot. People are learning about the W and how great it is.”

Bueckers is set to begin her senior season with the Huskies as one of the undisputed faces of college basketball. When the 2025 WNBA Draft comes around next year, she will no doubt be one of the top prospects.
