Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes were expected to crash out of the NCAA Tournament after going into the halftime period halftime of their Final Four matchup with UConn down by six points.
Iowa nursed a 32-26 deficit at the half, with Clark getting shut down by the stinging Huskies defense, so it did appear that she might not make it back to the final after routing LSU earlier in the week. At least that’s how Front Office Sports felt about her prospects during the break.
The publication’s X account would prematurely proclaim the end of Caitlin Clark’s career, listing her NCAA achievements in a tweet captioned: “After four years, Caitlin Clark’s college career has come to an end.”

The tweet described Caitlin as a two-time Naismith Award winner, two-time AP Player of the Year, and three-time Big Ten Player of the Year.
They also pointed to the launch of her foundation and her sponsorship deals with sportswear giants Nike, as well as other top brands such as Gatorade and State Farm.
The tweet was later deleted, but not before it was caught by The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel, who posted a screenshot with the caption, “When you accidentally scheduled the scheduled tweet to run at halftime.”

Caitlin Clark And Iowa Still Have One More Game To Go
Of course, we know now that the post was ill-advised as the Hawkeyes would go on to win, though marginally.
Iowa found another gear in the third quarter and managed to tie the scores at 51 to end it, going on to win 71-69.
Front Office Sports might want to hold on to the tweet, though. With the Hawkeyes having made it to the National Championship Game, it would make sense to post it after Sunday’s showdown whether they win or lose as Clark is headed to the WNBA.
