Fever defeat Atlanta Dream 91-79, extending their win streak to four games behind a standout performance from rookie Clark
Indiana Fever find their groove with victory over DreamLAPRESSE
Caitlin Clark and theIndiana Fever delivered a performance worthy of a standing ovation. Friday night at State Farm Arena, the Fever didn’t just beat the Atlanta Dream-they orchestrated a 91-79 symphony of skill and precision, marking their fourth consecutive win.
Clark, the rookie sensation, once again demonstrated why she’s the No. 1 draft pick. Her 16 points, seven assists, and four rebounds were like a masterclass in basketball fundamentals. This followed her 18-point, 12-rebound spectacle on Wednesday and a 23-point game on Sunday. For a player just finding her footing, she’s already making the hardwood her own.
But this was far from a one-woman show. Kelsey Mitchell and NaLyssa Smith stepped into the spotlight with 18 and 21 points, respectively, proving that Indiana’s newfound success is a team effort. The Fever, who started the season in the cellar at 3-10, have clawed their way to a respectable 7-10, now holding onto the No. 8 seed, just half a game ahead of the Chicago Sky.
Fever dominate early, cruise past Atlanta in third quarter push
The Fever hit the ground running, posting a season-high 35 points in the first quarter alone, shooting a blistering 70% from the field. Clark’s fourth 3-pointer-Indiana’s 10th of the night-came during a critical 11-3 run in the third quarter, pushing the lead to a comfortable 79-62. From there, they coasted to victory, much to the delight of Fever fans.
Aliyah Boston chipped in a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with three blocks, while Katie Lou Samuelson added 10 points off the bench, rounding out a well-balanced attack.
On the other side, Tina Charles did her best to keep Atlanta in the game, scoring a season-high 24 points, her 37th career 20-point game. Allisha Gray and Haley Jones added 19 and 12 points respectively, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Indiana’s onslaught.
The Fever’s next challenge is gonna get intense: Chicago Sky, Seattle Storm, Phoenix Mercury, and the formidable Las Vegas Aces. This stretch will test their newfound mettle and determine if their playoff dreams can become reality.
For now, though, the Fever are savoring the moment. A team that started the season in the shadows has stepped into the light, and with Caitlin Clark leading the way, they’re not looking back.
