Brittney Griner is Trending After Embarrassing Rejection During Mercury Loss

Brittney Griner’s Phoenix Mercury squad didn’t have their best showing on Saturday night.

The Mercury lost to the Minnesota Lynx 73-60, and now have a record of 8-8.

It was a particularly rough game for Griner. She finished the game with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block, and a +/- of -18 across 28 minutes played.

She often looked extremely out of sync on the offensive end; which was proven by an embarrassing rejection that she suffered at one point in the game.

In the third quarter of Saturday’s game, Griner (who is 6’9″) caught a ball in the post and went up for a shot.

But the shot was blocked by 6’1″ Lynx forward Napheesa Collier.

Collier’s face in the block’s video shows that even she didn’t seem to think she should be able to reject somebody who is listed as eight inches taller than her.

Alas, that’s just the game that Griner was having on Friday night.

The former Baylor legend and her Mercury team will look to get back in the win column when they face the Los Angeles Sparks on June 28th.
