Despite being just 24 years old, Kate Martin’s basketball journey has already seen glorious highs. ‘The glue’ of the Iowa Hawkeyes first stood aside the NCAA DI all-time leading scorer Caitlin Clark in pushing the team to back-to-back championship finals. She is now earning some critical minutes with the 2x reigning WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces. Despite her great displays, the IU alumna has rarely made headlines, until now. One picture of hers has gone viral on social media, which has fans asking questions about her relationship status.

Kate Martin shared a not-so-cryptic story with her 327,000 Instagram family recently. It was a story by another Iowa alumni named Claire Gransee. While there is nothing peculiar there, the emoji she attached took all the focus. In her story where the Las Vegas star is standing beside Gransee, she added a, “🥰” emoji. The other person, too, had written, “switched coasts for the weekend.”

Consequently, basketball fans have started showing interest in the two to dig deeper into who this secret lady friend of Kate Martin is. The internet is set abuzz with the rumors that the two are dating. However, none of the two have confirmed any such thing. The fans are now sharing the Instagram story all over the internet to possibly find answers.

Furthermore, adding spice to the entire story is the fact that even the 2x National Player of the Year and the Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark also follows Claire Gransee. While it just may be the Hawkeye connection, who exactly is Claire Gransee?

The Aces guard has never been open about her relationships in the public eye. This was especially so because her former teammate, Caitlin Clark, got much of the spotlight in the media. In fact, many did not know about her relationship with Jan Jensen, who recently took over the Hawkeyes after Lisa Bluder announced her retirement. While that piece of the puzzle is solved with the coach being Martin’s aunt’s wife, the question remains about the girl in the story.

Not much is available on Claire Gransee as of now. However, we do know that she is also a fellow Hawkeye. Additionally, she graduated from the University of Iowa in 2024 along with Caitlin Clark. Her major was Communication Studies with Law and Media Literacy as her minor subjects. The University of Iowa has awarded the brilliant student with the Deans List honor five times in a span of 3 years. She was also enrolled in The National Concert Hall in Dublin, Ireland.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Gransee wishes to move to the Greater Boston Area for further career building. Moreover, she is the Director of The GH Foundation she founded. The aim of this Iowa campus organization is to educate people about the importance of gastrointestinal health.

While we cannot ascertain what the relationship status for the two is, looks like they both know what they are rooting for. Surely, they are also working hard for it all. It will be interesting to see any more developments in this rumor and if Kate Martin finally responds to all of it.
