Caleb Williams has explained his nail-painting hobby, revealing why he enjoys it as much as he does ahead of this week’s NFL Draft.

The former USC quarterback is expected to be the No. 1 overall draft pick on Thursday night, so he has been under the microscope over the last few months, with plenty of criticism accompanying the scrutiny.

Williams is known to play with painted fingernails, a topic that has been discussed as much as Will Levis’ odd coffee taste was last year.

The QB has confirmed he will wear painted nails at the draft, telling OutKick he will have them match his suit and his girlfriend’s dress.

I’m wearing a navy suit. Bright navy blue with some silver accents, so it’s going to look nice,” he said. “And the silver pinkie is to match my lady’s dress.”

Williams also explained the habit.

It’s one thing where you go to a nail salon, and it’s peaceful,” he offered. “It’s something not many people are doing. I just sit down and throw on my [headphones]. I turn on a movie, I sit down and I’m chillin’, not bothered by anything other than what I decide to be bothered by.

Caleb Williams Says He’s Comfortable In His Own Skin

Williams attracted some critique after he was spotted wearing pink nails and sporting a pink iPhone case at a USC women’s basketball game a few weeks ago. His appearances in painted nails have led to questions about his sexuality, but the player insists he’s comfortable in his own skin.

And then, I’m comfortable in my own skin. I know who and what I am and who I like and what I like and how I go about that,” he remarked. “When I look into the mirror, I know who I am. And so that’s the simplest answer I can give you for that. That’s kind of how I go about it.

It will be interesting to see whether Williams will continue painting his nails in the pros. But they will be the least of fans’ concerns as long as he performs up to standard.
