In the current landscape of the NFL, Patrick Mahomes stands tall as arguably the best player in football. He cemented his status by guiding the Kansas City Chiefs to their third Super Bowl championship, since he assumed the role of starting QB. Mahomes’ stellar performance also earned him the coveted title of Super Bowl LVIII MVP, marking his third time clinching the prestigious award.
With Mahomes at the helm, the Chiefs are poised to remain perennial contenders, posing a formidable threat to the rest of the league for years to come. Despite Mahomes’ undeniable prowess on the field, not everyone thinks he’s the best QB to come out of Texas.

Manziel emphasized the unparalleled accomplishments and accolades that Murray amassed during his time at Allen High School. Murray’s tenure saw him guide the team to three straight state championships, maintaining a flawless 42-0 record as the team’s starting QB. In contrast, Patrick Mahomes may not boast the same sterling high school credentials as Murray, but he has witnessed a meteoric rise in the NFL.
But there was always the chance that he might have chosen a different route entirely.

Mahomes a baseball star?
Before Mahomes emerged as a football sensation, the prevailing assumption in Texas was that he would follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in baseball. His father, Pat Mahomes Sr., had enjoyed a successful tenure as a relief pitcher in MLB from 1992 to 2003. However, Patrick’s trajectory took a different turn when he secured the starting QB position in the fall of 2012.
