Brittany Mahomes posted a screenshot of a text message from Patrick this week that proved how confident he was in his team.
In the aftermath of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, the wife of the Chiefs quarterback posted a text message dated on January 5th that showed Mahomes calling his shot.
“I’ve decided we are going to win the Super Bowl,” Patrick Mahomes said in the text.
Mahomes sent a follow-up text on Jan. 28, the date the Chiefs won the AFC Championship in Baltimore.
“I’ll see ya’ll in Vegas. I’m not done.”
The Kansas City Chiefs were underdogs in three of their four postseason victories. Their Wild Card game was at Arrowhead Stadium against the Dolphins and then they would play on the road at Highmark Stadium against the Buffalo Bills and at M&T Bank Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens.
Following the Las Vegas Raiders victory over the Chiefs on Christmas Day, many considered that this team to be a quick out in the playoffs but they defied the odds in what was supposed to be a down year.
Mahomes became only the third back-to-back Super Bowl MVP, joining two other legends — Bart Starr and Terry Bradshaw.
His third Super Bowl MVP Award tied Mahomes with Montana for the second-most all-time, behind Tom Brady’s five.
