The Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury are facing off on Sunday in what has been one of the most hyped WNBA matches of the 2024 regular season.
This marks the first time Caitlin Clark and the Fever have played Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and the Mercury this season. It will be the only time the Fever play the Mercury on the road in 2024.
Prior to Sunday’s game, Clark’s exchange with Griner, the Mercury center, drew a great deal of attention.
Seconds before the tip, Griner approached Clark right after Taurasi and gave the rookie a heartfelt hug.
The two then exchanged what looked like kind words before parting ways.

X user Vanshay Murdock posted a video of the exchange. And fans are making note of the height difference between the two WNBA icons.
“BG like a giant compared to her I’m crying,” one X user wrote in the video’s replies.
“Oh my god BG compared to CC,” another user wrote with two crying emojis.
“CC looks like a child next to Griner,” a third fan said.
Griner surely will not be so warm toward Clark during Sunday’s game.
