Chicago Sky: Angel Reese Reaches Crazy WNBA Territory No One Had Been To In 14 Years

Even when the Chicago Sky lose, star rookie Angel Reese always finds a way to shine. Take for example Friday night’s showdown against the Las Vegas Aces at home.

The Sky lost to the reigning WNBA champions, 93-85, but it certainly was not because Reese had an awful performance. The former LSU Tigers star had another double-double to her name, as she generated 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while shooting 7/16 from the floor in the 31 minutes she was on the court.

With a sparkling individual performance from Reese, she became the first player in over a decade to gather at least 200 points and 175 rebounds in her first 16 games in her career in the league, as pointed out by StatMamba.

“Angel Reese is the fastest WNBA player to record 200 PTS & 175 REB since Tina Charles (2010).”

Not only that but Reese has extended her double-double streak to nine games, making her the youngest ever in league history to accomplish that incredible feat.

So far in the 2024 WNBA regular season, Reese, who was taken seventh overall in the first round of the 2024 draft by the Sky, is averaging 13.5 points. Only two-time league Most Valuable Player and Aces star A’ja Wilson is averaging more rebounds this season than Reese, who is plucking down 11.1 boards per outing. Wilson is averaging 11.3 rebounds per contest.

The Sky dropped to 6-10 in the WNBA standings after the loss to Las Vegas. They will look to rebound with a win on Sunday at home versus the Minnesota Lynx.
